Gandruk (approx. 2000 m above sea level) and Riwan (approx. 800 m above sea level) are two of the many villages lying on the foothills of the Annapurna mountains. People there live mainly from agriculture, or, if the village happens to be located along oe of the trekking routes to the mountains, from tourism.
